Smoothies are a big hit in our family- quick, great for easy meals OR snacks, healthy (sneak in those veggies!), and perfect on hot days. These are a few of our favorite go-to smoothie spots across the Outer Banks that always hit the spot.
Mom’s sweet shop
Mom’s Sweet Shop is a unique spot, to say the least. Part skateboard shop with vintage clothes and records, part ice cream and smoothie bar with delicious treats. They have a great variety of menu items, or build your own from a long list of ingredients. Lots of healthy add-ins are available (bee pollen, chia seeds, tumeric), as well as tons of regular fruits and veggies. The owners are long time locals who have built a really cool spot to hang, with a super cute outside seating area.

The Spot
The Spot has two locations, in Kitty Hawk and Nags Head, and serves ice cream, acai bowls and smoothies. We LOVE the Nags Head location, because they have a fabulous large, shady fenced yard with picnic tables and outside games that is a perfect area to hang on a hot day! They have lots of great smoothie options, and even when it’s crowded, their service is usually quick. We love the Brah Berries and Spot-tastic smoothies!

Island Smoothie Cafe
Whenever we make a trip to Duck or Corolla, we make sure to hit up Island Smoothie. They have delicious smoothies (as well as coffee, breakfast, and sandwiches), and TONS of options/flavors so everyone gets something they love. For the adults, they even have espresso-based smoothies when you need an extra pick me up… don’t miss this one!

WAveriders
It’s no secret that our family loves Waveriders, and their smoothies are definitely a go-to. There are good options on the menu, or you can customize your own. The portions are large- my kids usually split one. You can’t miss with their breakfast and lunch options as well (and the cold brew!). Lots of inside and outdoor seating making this stop super convenient any time of year.

If you’re a smoothie fan like we are, these are some of your best bets for a cool, healthy treat on the Outer Banks! Fresh fruit and ingredients along with a great outdoor location are a perfect match for a smoothie snack.
